A Healthy Gulf = Happy Fisherman
October is a busy & fun month along the Gulf Coast. Â
We are home to the Destin Fishing Rodeo that brings fishermen from around the world.
We count on healthy waters to help continue the success of such an event and our year-round fishing and water activities. An organization, Waterlust, recently released a video detailing a fascinating experiment studying the gulf’s health and currents.Â
According to the Waterlust website, the marine scientists “create media and products meant to get you thinking about how water affects your life.  As a community we recognize that despite our many differences, water is an element that binds us all together.”
The Surfzone Oil Pathways Experiment (SCOPE) is part of the Consortium for Advanced Research on Transport of Hydrocarbon in the Environment (CARTHE), a research initiative based at the University of Miami following the Deep Water Horizon oil spill of 2010, according to Waterlust director Fiona Graham.
