Big Events on Tap this Weekend for Destin
More than 800 triathletes are expected to converge on Sandestin this weekend for the 28th annual triathlon. ¬†It’s one of the most popular sporting events in Destin, FL. The triathlon involves a half-mile Gulf of Mexico swim, a 20-mile bike ride along the coast, and a 4-mile run through Sandestin’s beach and bayside communities. Proceeds will benefit Sacred Heart Hospital of the Emerald Coast. ¬†The Sandestin Triathlon will start at 6:30 a.m. on the beach, one-half mile west of the Elephant Walk restaurant. ¬†The fun concludes with a post-race party at the restaurant‚Äôs pool deck.
Vine to Wine Preview
Seascape will be the site Friday night, August 22, for the Taste of the Beach Preview party. ¬†Participants will enjoy wine and food pairings from area restaurants. ¬†Organizers say more than 200 wines will be paired with local cuisines. ¬†The event is a preview to the annual Taste of the Beach festival weekend which will be held Oct. 31-Nov. 1.
