Calling All Canines: Baytowne Mardi Gras Dog Parade This Sunday

A mere four hours from the Big Easy, Destin is indisputably influenced by the style and culture of New Orleans. On the Emerald Coast, playing hard is a way of life, so when Mardi Gras arrives, we know how to let the good times roll! With great music, food, spirits and all those beads, the only thing that could possibly make the Destin Mardi Gras Celebration any better is sharing the fun with your best friend—man’s best friend that is. During Mardi Gras season (or any season, really), we’re not about to leave our dogs out of the fun. This Sunday, The Village of Baytowne Wharf hosts its 14th annual Mardi Gras Dog Parade. This year’s theme is “Canines and Comics,” and doggie-superheroes will unite on decorated floats, wagons, and golf-carts.

Whether guarding the house, barking at their reflection, or rehearsing their plan of exuberant attack for the moment you walk in the door, every canine deserves a reward for his/her unconditional devotion!

Dress your dog like the hero he/she is. Does he dart out the door faster than a speeding bullet?  Do her doggy-senses tingle anytime the impending danger of bath-time is near? Bring your canine’s inner comic-book hero to life!

The parade begins at 2:00 p.m. and will wind its way through the streets of Baytowne Wharf, with live music on the green and daiquiris a-plenty at Fat Tuesday.

If there’s not enough time to find dog-friendly superhero costumes, no problem. You and the pup come enjoy the sights and spoils of the parade. The sounds of Zydeco and the howls of krewe-de-bark will fill the air. Don’t forget a doggie-bag; beads, sweets, and treats will be thrown.

Laissez les bons temps rouler!
