Calling All Foodies & Film Buffs

For the first time ever, our area will host the Food Film Festival, an event that showcases food films alongside local culinary delights. Past events have been held in New York, Chicago, and Charleston. This year, the Florida Panhandle will host the event with activities set in the South Walton area for April 8-10.

The event is known for being the only film festival in the world where visitors can eat the food they see on the screen while sitting in their theater chairs. During the Charleston event, the festival featured screenings aboard an aircraft carrier. The festival screens exceptional films that showcase the world’s favorite foods and the people, traditions, and inspirations behind them.Destin food festival

The three-day festival includes food films from award-winning artists, unique meals prepared by some of the South’s best chefs, and various events celebrating the food, art, and culture of South Walton. Two area chefs are included – Phil McDonald of Bud & Alley’s Pizza Bar and Kevin Korman of Caliza. Other nationally known chefs attending include Ryan Prewett of Peche Seafood Grill, Justin Devillier of La Petite Grocery, and Michael Gullota of Mopho, all popular restaurants in New Orleans.

The Food Film Festival, based in Brooklyn, is partnering with The Local Palate magazine to bring the event to our area. Early bird tickets are now available along with the event lineup. The festival will conclude on Sunday, April 10 with a brunch, celebrating the film It’s Grits with chefs preparing a one-of-a-kind Southern brunch.where to eat in Destin Florida
