Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at La Paz

Cinco de Mayo is on a Saturday this year and we have the perfect place for your celebration!

La Paz is throwing an extra special party since the popular dining spot is also celebrating its 25th anniversary. 25 years! Congratulations to one of our favorite restaurants in Destin, FL.

I talked with La Paz managing partner Chatham Morgan about the weekend, but first he had to take a break from fishing (“I’m hoping to catch a cobia to serve in the restaurant.”) Morgan acknowledged that the 25th anniversary is quite a milestone, “Not many places have this kind of longevity. This is a celebration of our business and the one day we celebrate what we do.”

Here are some details about the Cinco de Mayo celebration:

  • $5 La Pazaritas (fresh squeezed & top shelf!)
  • Door prizes (including catered dinners from La Paz and sister restaurant Local Market, restaurant gift cards, and bottles of Tequila)
  • Music all day – afternoon/Shane Curle, night/Cadillac Willy

Cadillac Willy has become a La Paz Cinco de Mayo tradition. This will be the band’s 15th consecutive year to play the party. Set begins at 8 p.m.

We can’t wait to join the fun and order up the very popular fish tacos. Morgan says the restaurant uses the fish-of-the-day, usually fresh black grouper, snapper, or cobia. “All our fish is sourced locally from Destin. We are proud to serve fresh fish in a Mexican setting. It is unusual for a Mexican restaurant to be set apart as a seafood restaurant. We are really proud of our fish tacos,” says Morgan. The fresh catch tacos feature grilled fish, lime cabbage, and avocado with black beans and seasoned rice. Yum!

All the fun starts this Saturday when doors open for lunch at 11 a.m. Happy Cinco de Mayo!
