Destin Celebrates 20th Annual Take-a-Kid Fishing Day
What do you get when you combine 57 of Destin’s finest charter boats with more than 300 kids and a crew of volunteer chaperones?  You get one glorious day of fishing in Destin, FL!
Harbor Docks Charities recently hosted the 20th Annual Take-A-Kid-Fishing Day.  The special event is open to children in the area who don’t often get the chance to go fishing. Off-duty policemen and firemen from Destin and Fort Walton Beach along with Harbor Docks Charities volunteers serve as chaperones for the day. Â
The adventure begins on the Big Deck at Harbor Docks with a breakfast of donuts and orange juice.  After a morning of fishing, the youngsters return to the docks where they receive a t-shirt and fishing rod & reel.  The ice cream truck lady (Miss Carrie) also stopped by and handed out free ice cream.  The day ends with a family fish fry for all to enjoy.  It’s a day you know the youngsters and the adult volunteers will not soon forget.
