Mardi Gras Celebration is growing in Destin, Florida year after year… 2015 is biggest yet!
No need to travel to New Orleans anymore to get a traditional fun-filled “Carnaval” celebration. Mardi Gras, French meaning of Fat Tuesday, marks the end of ordinary time before the start of lent where people traditionally begin a time of fasting and repentance. The idea is to indulge, party and consume as much as possible before you begin the Lenten season which starts on Ash Wednesday and leads up to Easter. This Christian/Catholic tradition is full of history and makes for an exciting time with parades, parties and a reason to cut loose, laugh and play!
Destin, FL has it going on this 2015 Mardi Gras. HarborWalk Village kicks off the Carnaval season Feb. 6 with a pub crawl and the 7th annual Mardi Gras Parade on the Feb. 7. which has grown to it’s largest ever this year. The HWV will also have a Fat Tuesday celebration on Feb. 17 at the Main Stage and throughout the edge of the Destin Harbor.¬†
Baytowne Wharf in Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort is adding a little something for our furry family members…¬†Join on Feb 15th for the 12th Annual Mardi Gras Dog Parade! This year’s theme is Woofstock. This very popular event fills a Sunday afternoon with surprise and laughter and tons of wagging fun. Baytowne will also host their 13th annual Mardi Gras Parade throughout Sandestin on Feb. 17th.¬†
So these are two large venues for things to do in Destin, FL this Mardi Gras season.
