Destin is very excited to see who participates in this years 30th Annual Sandestin Triathlon. This year it is expected to include more than 700 participants! The triathlon consists of a half-mile Gulf of Mexico swim, a 20-mile bike along the coast, and a 4-mile run through Sandestin’s beach and bayside community.

The proceeds of the triathlon will benefit Sacred Heart Hospital of the Emerald Coast. Awards will be given to the top three overall male and female finishers of many different categories determined by age. Others awards will also be handed out including overall male and female and the Athena award. The triathlon hasĀ a special award named the Scott Christmas award. The Scott Christmas award was named after a participant who overcame a terrible accident and started racing again a year later. The Sandestin Triathlon was the first triathlon he participated in after recovering from the accident. The award will be given to a participant that dealt with a situation similar to Scott Christmas.
