Dukes of Dixieland Mardi Gras Jazz Concert

A soul filled night of Mardi Gras jazz will benefit the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra. World famous New Orlean’s based jazz band Dukes of Dixieland will perform at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center in Niceville Saturday, January 23rd at 7:30PM. Unlike their southern name, the Dukes play a wide variety of Cajun music from Dr. John to Huey Smith along with their own original musical numbers. The Dukes of Dixieland have performed with symphony orchestras all over the world including the Cincinnati, Cleveland, Chicago, New York Pops in Carnegie Hall just to name a few. The band name was originally associated with a band formed in 1948 by a group of family members. The original Dukes of Dixieland disbanded in the early 1970s and reformed in 1974 playing atop the Monteleone Hotel in the French quarter. In 1986 the Dukes created a new home called Mahogany Hall on Bourbon Street, and in 1992 their headquarters moved to the Steamboat Natchez where they have remained ever since. This group of men are dedicated to giving back to their communities and surrounding areas. It is quite the honor to have the Dukes of Dixieland in our neighborhood. Tickets are on sale for $37 and are available exclusively through Mattie Kelly Arts Center’s box office by phone, in person or online.
