Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park
Dolphins, penguins, otters, and gators, oh my!
Growing up in the Florida Panhandle, we knew the attraction near Wayside Park as, simply, the “Gulfarium.” Now, celebrating it’s 60th year, it carries the title “Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park” and it continues to welcome visitors year-round. There’s plenty to see from dolphin shows and dolphin encounters to penguin feeds and stingray exhibits.
Images of America: Â Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park
The Gulfarium is now also the subject of a new book in the Images of America series. Authors Russel Chiodo and Krista Stouffer interviewed former Gulfarium staff members and scoured the Florida State and Gulfarium archives to pen the history of this popular family attraction. The book jacket notes “displays of live specimens collected from the Gulf of Mexico by founder John ‘Brandy’ Siebenaler, his associates, and Destin’s fishing families gave visitors a chance to view life below the sea as they had never seen before.”
The Gulfarium invites families to visit this weekend and enjoy free kid admission. This Saturday and Sunday (Jan 31-Feb 1), youngsters will enjoy crafts and the aquarium bounce house in addition to all the regularly scheduled shows and exhibits. Free admission is for kids 12 & under with a limit of two kids per adult.
Seniors are Special
Every Wednesday, through March 4, is #SeniorWednesday. Â Seniors (62+) are invited to enjoy free admission to the marine park. Â No crafts or bounce house, but still lots of fun!
