Happy Hour Specials on the Beach
Just east of Destin, Scenic Highway 30A in Walton County boasts equally beautiful beaches and some great local restaurants. A drive down this 18 mile strip of paradise will have you rolling down the windows, singing, Don’t Worry, Be Happy. What’s the happiest time of the day on the beach? Happy Hour, of course!
While you wont find any chain restaurants or fast food on 30A, you will find some of the best locally owned, craft eateries anywhere. Every place has its signature cocktails, and of course the best time to score a great deal.
Stop 1 – Blue Mountain Beach
Trebeache in Blue Mountain Beach offers bottomless mimosas until 3 p.m. Beyond the typical orange juice and champagne blend, choose from peach, grapefruit, or other seasonal juices. Sip them slowly as you sway to live jazz. Don’t forget to order the best blue crab omelet on the beach.
Stop 2 – Grayton Beach
The Red Bar in Grayton Beach is a must-see dining experience for anyone new to the area. You’ll plan next year’s vacation around being able to visit the Red Bar; it’s such a unique sensory experience. From the glow of red lights to the myriad of movie posters lining the walls, the house band to the bohemian garden out front, there’s nothing else like it. Plus, The Red Bar’s Bloody Mary was named one of the top Bloodies on the beach. One sip, and you’ll quickly understand why.
Stop 3 – Watercolor
Who doesn’t love a great glass of wine? Rose-yay, anyone? For the wine-lover, you can’t miss Wine World in Watercolor. Every day until 6 p.m., enjoy a karate for the price of a glass. We can’t recommend the Maraval Rose highly enough. Not to mention, Thursday evenings, Happy Hour extends until closing.
Stop 4- Seaside
If you find yourself in Seaside, that quaint new urban town, there’s only one choice for a craft cocktail: Great Southern. And at Great Southern, you have to order their specialty mojitos. From 4-6 p.m., mojitos are half-off. The strawberry mojito is utterly unbeatable, but you can also cool down with a pineapple, grapefruit, dragon fruit, coconut, or the original mint mojito.
Whether you are looking for a full meal or a quick drink, you’ll go home raving about any of these 30A hot spots. If you haven’t explored Destin’s neighboring coastal communities, plan your Destin vacation now!
