Get Up Stand Up and Paddleboard for Cystic Fibrosis at GUSU Race Series 2015
The Series has begun with an exciting successful start! Here is a recap from this weekend and foreshadow of what’s to come. 4 races, one down and 3 to go! ¬†
2015 marks the 5th Annual GUSU Paddleboard Race Series. Officially named the PSUP Classic, this event attracts 100+ racers and is just as much fun for spectators. This local event is one of the unique things to do in Destin, FL especially with the growing popularity of the sport. This series is getting to be known all around the country through the many board suppliers and media that GUSU has gained the respect of. But the main reason for the creation of the series is always for a great cause and this year’s charity is The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Cysitc Fibrosis (CF) is a life-threatening genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. The Cyctic Fibrosis Foundation funds lifesaving research and works to provide access to quality, specialized care and effective treatments for people with CF. To bring it even closer to home, GUSU is working with a local CF group and specifically Kelly and Jarrod Brown who have a 2 yr old boy with CF. Kids with CF are on constant, very costly medications, diet and breathing treatments and are often hospitalized multiple times throughout the year. Thanks to GUSU there are high hopes of raising funds to help research and costs.
Buy a raffle ticket! GUSU is raffling away 2 GUSU paddlesports custom made paddleboards to raise awareness for the races and 100% goes to CFF. You can call the store at 850-292-3410 to enter the raffle. The winner will be drawn at the race Finale on September 12.
