Mardi Gras in Destin

Let the good times roll…and bring me king cake! It’s that fun time of year where Mardi Gras is celebrated from New Orleans, all along the Gulf Coast, to here in Destin. Our area features many Mardi Grass activities including a ball, parade, and pub crawl so there’s fun for everyone.

There’s also cake for everyone! Now that the king of New Orleans cooking has opened a restaurant in Destin, we can enjoy the real deal. Emeril’s Coastal Italian restaurant is located at Grand Boulevard, Sandestin, a great area also for shopping in Destin, Fl. On a recent visit, our king cake dessert was even kicked up a notch – it was king cake s’mores featuring homemade toasted marshmallow cream on the side. (Foreground in the photo is the popular dessert – cookies & milk.)

King cakes available at several locations around town: SmallCakes Cupcakery & Creamery (Destin & Shalimar), Black Bear Bread Co. (Grayton), and all Publix and Winn Dixie bakeries.
