Mardi Gras Parades & Celebrations
The entire family is invited to the Destin Mardi Gras kick-off event, scheduled for this Friday night, Feb. 24, at the Destin Commons. A full parade featuring more than 35 floats will roll at 6:00 p.m. Expect plenty of throws and groovy music by Mr. Big & the Rhythm Sisters.
The good times will continue to roll on Saturday, Feb. 25, as HarborWalk Village host a daytime parade at 2:00 p.m. Expect decorated floats & costumes and plenty of Mardi Gras beads and goodies. Live music begins at noon on the main stage.
Mardi Gras Pub Crawl
It’s the 9th year for this night of revelry at HarborWalk. Wearing your best green, purple and gold Mardi Gras outfit for a carnival of fun and great drink specials at every stop. Proceeds benefit the local non-profit Food for Thought.
Stops include FishHeads, Margaritaville, Grande Vista Bar & Grill, Jackacudas & Harry T’s, Crab Island Cantina, Jester’s Mardi Gras Daiquiris, and Coyote Ugly.
Mardi Gras Ball
It’s not Mardi Gras without an official ball so Lulu’s of Destin will play host to the inaugural Krewe De Lu Roux’s Birds of Paradise Mardi Gras Ball, also on Saturday, Feb. 25.  Dress in island elegance and enjoy a festive evening with live entertainment bringing funk and Motown classics to the stage with Hotwire. Watch the official coronation of Mardi Gras King and Queen, community leader Cory Fosdyck and food critic/blogger Susan Benton. Tickets are $65 and are available at Lulu’s.
