Memorial Day Weekend Destin Style

Boat, Patio, or Deck, Enjoy the Memorial Day Festivities Unique to Destin, FL

imageWhen you think of Memorial Day you must remember it’s reason 1st. To honor the brave soldiers who defend and protect our country. So iLoveDestin.com would like to Thank the amazing men and women who constantly put all of¬†US ahead of their needs and work hard at keeping us safe. Thank You Armed Forces!

Memorial Day in Destin Florida kicks off the rest of the summer’s activities. This is when everyone realizes the summer is here and then, let¬†the festivities begin! Restaurants and local hangouts make their weekly schedules and entertainment line-ups. Memorial Day is a big deal here with festivities and fireworks on both, the Baytowne Wharf Sandestin harbor, and The Famous Destin Harbor.

We wanted to highlight something special and unique to our wonderful Destin area and since we are a beautiful peninsula we are surrounded by the beautiful tranquilizing emerald green water. There is actually no other Harbor like Destin Harbor in the way the multiple bodies of water all connect and flow out to the Gulf of Mexico. The way our harbor connects to the Choctawhatchee Bay and also to the Gulf is totally unique. This allows for extra boating opportunities.

Lil Stasia LogoBoating is the way to go here. You should not ever live here or visit here without getting out on a boat and experiencing our special shoreline. So, don’t you think it’s a great idea to combine boating with Memorial Day? And better yet, combine with the fireworks too? And before that, enjoy a sunset cruise? Gosh! what a night and weekend to remember! There are several small boats that can be rented that come either with or without a captain. For example, for a small captained boat, check out the “Lil’ Stasia,¬†the mini me bay boat¬†of one of Destin’s most prominent and long time respected charter fishing boats, The Anastasia. Lilstasia specializes in short day bay small boat fishing… but also just the right size¬†for cruising around the harbor.

imageFireworks are always fantastic especially when you can see them from a boat. Destin Vacation Boat Rentals has specific “firework cruises” where you rent a boat for 3 hours from 6 to 9pm, and you can catch the sunset over the water, sightsee for dolphins, witness the WWII air show, then pull up to Norriego Point for a front row seat to an amazing display of fireworks over the Destin Harbor. Fireworks cruises start at $175 for 3 hours aboard a pontoon that will seat up to 12.

But boating and fireworks don’t end at Memorial Day Weekend, the harbor host fireworks weekly on Thursday nights. So, if you miss Memorial Day this year, you can still experience the “flair” and excitement of sunset cruising¬†combined with¬†the explosive spectacular fireworks display all summer long!
