Poppy’s Seafood Factory is host of 2 special wine tasting events for the Sandestin Wine Festival
Poppy’s will be the place to be for the Sandestin Wine Festival
The 28th Annual Sandestin Wine Festival, held April 10 – 13, 2014,¬†is known as the “Kentucky Derby of Wine Festivals.” It will be a picture perfect event complete with¬†white tents, the tasting of hundreds of wines, culinary treats and live music.
Poppy’s Gold Medal Sommelier, Mark Spalding, is hosting the following wine dinners at Poppy’s Seafood Factory during this spectacular Sandestin Event.
- On Thursday, April 10th, at 6pm, Mark will be featuring wines of Washington State presented by Joe Guzman of Chateau Ste Michelle carefully and selectively paired with the cuisine of Poppy’s Executive Chef, Shane Quinlan.
- On Saturday, April 12th, at 6pm, is the Hahn Estate Winemakers Dinner¬†presented by Philippe Hahn of Hahn Estates who owns¬†over 1000 acres of premier wine territory and six vinyards¬†of Santa Lucia Highlands wines, which epitomize the appellation as well as the passion and commitment of the Hahn Family.¬†Hahn wines are created from the fruit of these meticulously planted hillside vineyards. These wines are produced completely in the Santa Lucia Highlands – from the ground to the barrel to the bottle – at Hahn Estates Winery. Again Poppy’s Executive Chef, Shane Quinlan has paired these wines with a magnificent meal for all to enjoy.
Much careful thought and preparation and “tasting” has gone into the special pairing of the event’s hand picked wine choices¬†with specific, deliberate and sensitive thought for the perfect taste of food and wine together for the ultimate flavor… nothing over-powering the other, but harmonizing and complimenting each other.
What may surprise you is, Poppy’s has it’s own extensive wine cellar to please even the pickiest of wine lovers, they know wine, and their menu is just as vast, starting with an impressive list of soups, salads and appetizers. Many main dishes carry tastes of Louisiana which are authentically displayed throughout the whole menu with a¬†winning dish, our favorite, The Blackened Lobster, served sliced down the middle & grilled with lightly spiced seasonings amongst an array of delicious colorful vegetables… Just amazing!
