The Blue Angels are Back!
The U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels are performing over Pensacola Beach this weekend.
The Blue Angels will perform their full Red, White, & Blues show at noon on Saturday, much to the delight of beach goers.
There are two extra opportunities to watch the flight team fly over the beach this week.  The Blues will practice tomorrow (Thursday), expecting to be overhead around 2 p.m.  On Friday, the flight demonstration squadron will perform a full scale dress rehearsal complete with civilian acts.  The dress rehearsal is scheduled for noon.
Pensacola Beach is just one hour west from the Destin, FL area.  If you are traveling from Destin to view the show, a special trolley service is available once you arrive on Pensacola Beach.  The trolley service has been expanded on Friday and Saturday to help handle the expected crowds. You can use the trolley tracker to help you with details.
The Blue Angels show is one of the most anticipated events in the Florida Panhandle.  The excitement is even greater this year since federal budget cuts grounded the team last year and forced the cancellation of both hometown shows.
If you need Destin vacation rentals for this weekend or any other weeks this summer, several of our travel partners are offering special rates for open dates. Since our weather has been so wonderful this summer, spaces are extremely limited, but the discounts are significant at 25-30%.
If you are not able to make it to this weekend’s air show, mark your calendar for the Blue Angel Homecoming festivities in November and make those lodging reservations now! NAS Pensacola is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. Established in 1914, NAS Pensacola was the first air station commissioned by the Navy for the training of aviators in the infancy of naval aviation.  The 2014 Blue Angels Homecoming Air Shows on November 7, 8, & 9 will be the center piece of this year-long celebration.
Enjoy & Welcome Home Blue Angels!
