The Rise of Our Gulf-to-Table Cuisine
There’s magic in these waters!  That’s the opening chapter of a new passport-sized guide book published by the Emerald Coast Convention & Visitors Bureau which details everything you need to know about fishing and enjoying seafood along the Gulf Coast.
Destin, FL is known as the “World’s Luckiest Fishing Village” and we are home to Florida’s largest fishing fleet. With more than 20 kinds of edible fish, the charter fleet of more than 140 vessels brings in thousands of pounds of fish daily.
The daily catches have inspired our area chefs to create unique Gulf-to-Table cuisine. You can find a full listing of all of the restaurants that participate in the this unique program in the passport guide or bureau’s website. Some of our favorites are Brotula’s Seafood House & Steamer, Jackacudas Seafood & Sushi, AJ’s Seafood & Oyster Bar, Camille’s at Crystal Beach, and Harbor Docks.
We recommend ordering the handy guide from the Emerald Coast Convention & Visitors Bureau website. Go to the “Gulf to Table” tab, then click on “Get the Guide.” It’s an interesting read featuring some of the following chapters:
- Gulf Fish Flavor Profiles

- Surf Fishing
- Crabbing, Shrimping, or Scalloping
- Fishing with Kids
- Hooking Up with a Fishing Charter
