Travel Channel Features Favorite Restaurants

In a recent posting on their website, the Travel Channel describes the Emerald Coast restaurant scene as a “foodie haven.”

The article lists the following restaurants as favorites:

  1. Vin’tij Wine Boutique & Bistro
  2. Stinky’s Fish Camp
  3. V Seagrove
  4. McGuire’s Irish Pub
  5. Sushimoto
  6. Cafe Thirty-A
  7. The Red Bar

Commenters on the Travel Channel post quibble with the obvious missing Destin restaurants.  Some of the restaurants in Destin, FL that folks say should be included are Dewey’s, Boschamps, Jackacuda, Harbor Docks, Beach Walk Cafe, and Cuvee Bistro. Some also take issue with the headline which lists the above seven as located in “Destin” while some of the restaurants are located in the South Walton or 30A area.

No quibbling here about the excellence of Vin’tij.  Our last meal there and overall experience was terrific.  Every dish we sampled – from an appetizer (griddled sea scallops) to dessert (sautĂ©ed strawberries & warm lemon pound cake served with cinnamon ice cream) was delicious.  We tried a variety of entrees – crab cakes, chargrilled angus ribeye, and catch of the day.  It was hard to pick a clear winner – all were wonderful.  I’m going to have to return for lunch soon to sample the highly recommended pan-fried oyster BLT.

The wine selection is also extensive and the staff is very knowledgable, making excellent recommendations.  Vin’tij (think “vintage”) also hosts regular wine dinners.  Reservations are necessary. I would recommend liking the Vintij Wine Boutique on facebook so you can learn about upcoming events.

When going to Vin’tij, don’t let the strip mall location next to a Subway deter you.  Inside, you will find quirky decor, excellent service, and delicious food.
