Tropical Storm = Double Red Flags
Here’s the update from Destin Fire & Rescue:
“The beaches are closed until further notice. This is a very dangerous time, not only to be in the water, but to be on the beach as well. Roads and bridges are also very dangerous at this time with flooding and power outages, so please, only travel when necessary. The tropical storm has the water line close to the dunes and the rip currents will be especially dangerous for the next few days.
It is DOUBLE RED FLAG water conditions and the water, until further notice, are CLOSED! Two red flags means that the water is CLOSED to swimming, as conditions are too dangerous for even the strongest of swimmers. If visiting the beach today – remember that it is ILLEGAL to swim. Thunderstorms and possible flooding are forecast for this evening and tomorrow morning.”
